GTPase with similarity to translation release factors; together with binding partner Dom34p, facilitates ribosomal subunit dissociation and peptidyl-tRNA release when translation is stalled, particularly in 3' UTRs; genetically implicated in mRNA no-go decay; HBS1 has a paralog, SKI7, that arose from the whole genome duplication [Source:SGD;Acc:S000001792]
